If this will be your first time ever at Cheyenne Frontier Days, here are 10 great tips from veterans of previous times.

1. There is no need for a cowboy hat to have a good time. You're accepted just the way you are.

2. After the funnel cake, try to choose foods more wisely.

3. Pick from one of the four downtown parades, or one of the three pancake breakfasts at Depot Plaza. (The Thunderbirds flip the flapjacks on Wednesday.)

4. If you're on a budget, there are more events that cost zero, e.g. Indian Village Dances.

5. It takes about four hours to get used to the smell of cow patties. After that its not so bad.

6. Don't even try to park close. Take your time, and save your money. Park & Ride. And forget parking downtown on days of parades and breakfasts.

7. Do not park in a driveway of a Cheyenne homeowner. They don't usually like that.

8. Go ahead and ride the Zipper. Don't feel nervous because there hasn't been a carnival accident in Wyoming in more than three years.

9. If you love western art shows, this is the grand daddy of them all as well.

10. Take pics of your party locations for the rest of your social world to enjoy.
