The Wyoming Affiliate of Susan G. Komen has awarded Community Grants to agencies in 19 counties across the state, primarily focused on breast health education and patient navigation.

The grants are awarded to a wide variety of agencies including: county public health offices, county hospitals, reproductive health clinics, emergency care centers, women’s health clinics, and sliding fee scale centers throughout the state.

Maria Medina, Executive Director of Komen Wyoming said “this marks the first time in the 18 year granting history of Komen Wyoming to award this many grants and have coverage in the majority of the state.”

Missions Manager Candida Odde said “due to the poor state of breast health in Wyoming, as we are 50th in the nation for screenings, it is imperative that we meet the women where they are at, in their counties.” Odde added “as Wyoming women have 70-100 miles to travel just to get screenings, there are some very tangible barriers in access to care.”
