A 19-year-old Rawlins woman is dead after the car she was driving collided head-on with a tractor trailer combination.

Investigators say she was not wearing a seatbelt.Sgt. Steve Townsend of the Wyoming Highway Patrol says 19 year old Calli Hays of Rawlins was, for unknown reasons, southbound in the northbound of US Highway 287. at a high rate of speed.

Townsend says hays maneuvered around one northbound passenger car in the driving lane. He says she then moved back into the driving lane and collided with a tractor-trailer combination driven by 58 year old David Manley of Rawlins.

Townsend says Hays was declared dead at the scene of the crash. Investigators don't know why Hays was driving in the wrong lane. The crash happened just before 1pm Tuesday in the city limits of Rawlins. The crash remains under investigation.
