Cheyenne police are asking for the public to come forward with any information they have regarding a jewelry theft that took place on August 6.

Sgt. David Janes says a cosmetic bag containing roughly $2,500 worth of jewelry, including several rings and necklaces, was taken from a room at the Plains Hotel sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 10 p.m.

"The detectives working the case have checked-in on pretty much everyone around, including hotel staff, and they're unable to produce a suspect at this time," said Janes.

"Hopefully someone knows somebody trying to sell the jewelry or someone sees something on-line that looks suspicious," Janes added.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers Silent Witness at (307) 638-TIPS. Callers will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
