The ice is now quickly coming off Wyoming reservoirs and soon fisherman will be heading to the lakes to try and stretch a line on some of their species of fish.

Wyoming fishing will be getting better each week as the warmer spring weather arrives.

Next month it will be time once again be time to kickoff the fishing tournament season with the first open water fishing tournament of the year - the 2018 Toughman Tournament put on by the North Platte Walleyes Unlimited.

If you love fishing and you're up for a competitive challenge - regardless of the weather - then don't miss the Toughman Tournament at Alcova Reservoir on April 28th, 2018 just west of Casper, WY.

Fishermen will have opportunities to win cash prizes doing what we enjoy - fishing!

Registration is open now and is $100 per team (up to 3 people per boat) until Wednesday April 25th, then $110 per team if received after that date.  Each team member will also have to be a member of the North Platte Walleye Association ($20 for an individual or $20 for a family membership) and you can join while sending in your application for the tournament.

This years Toughman Tournament will be held rain or shine on Saturday, April 28th and kicks off with a captains meeting, boat inspections and check in happening at the Casper Boat Club at Alcova Reservoir starting at 6 am.

How much money can I win? This is always dependent on the number of teams that register for the Tough Man Tournament. The planned payout will be 80% of the total pot - paid out to the top 4 heaviest walleyes, top 3 heaviest trout and one cash prize for most non-game fish.

Heaviest Walleye - $800 / 2nd Heaviest - $500 / 3rd - $300 / 4th - $150

Heaviest Trout - $350 / 2nd Heaviest - $250 / 3rd - $200

Most Non-Game Fish - $50
