It's a bad day in America when an outbreak of salmonella creeps its way into our bountiful vegetables, both killing and infecting innocent people. Well, that did happen recently. At least 558 people and 3 are dead after an outbreak of salmonella induced cucumbers were consumed by unassuming residents in Texas, California and Arizona.

The recalled cucumbers where distributed to about 21 other states in the union to include, but not limited to: Colorado, North Dakota and Nevada.

Experts say that if you're not sure whether or not your cucumbers were infected, ask the place where you purchased the vegetables to be sure.

Recently, Stewart Parnell, former owner of Peanut Corporation of America, got himself 28 years in prison for playing a role in the 2008 - 09 salmonella break out that killed a reported nine people.
