If you have ever taken a trip to Laramie, then you have probably seen the Lincoln Memorial, located at the Summit Rest Area in Wyoming. He's going in for another make over.  We are very blessed to have a bust of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Here are 5 facts about the monument, located on I-80, that you may not have known about.

  1. How Much Will It Cost? - The state will fund the restoration at a tab of $29,480.
  2. He's Going In for a Make-Over - Beginning Wednesday, September 9, the Lincoln Memorial, located at the Summit Rest Area in Wyoming, will be removed so that he can be restored. The last restoration of the bust was in 1992.
  3. Where It Was Cast - The sculpture was cast in Mexico City, for over 11 months, from 1958 - 1959 and transported to Wyoming, via railroad.
  4. How Tall Is It - The monument's stand is 30 feet tall and the bust itself is over 12 feet tall and weighs seven-thousand pounds. This is one of the heaviest cast bronze sculptures in America.
  5. The Base - The hallow base consists of a ladder and a lightening rod.
