If it seems the Cheyenne Police Department did more this past year while having fewer officers to work with, you are correct. Here are 5 reasons our CPD was awesome in 2016.

5. Feb 19, The Department claims racial bias is not an issue for its officers. CPD public information officer Dan Long said, “let’s actually do the analysis so that we can confirm it’s not an issue.” The conclusion was: "Comparing the race demographics on the citations to the U.S. Census for Cheyenne, we found that we’re pretty close. It shows that our officers are out there doing the right thing."

4. All year long CPD's Facebook posted fabulous photos non-stop. Here's our fav.

3.  Brian Kozack, a great Police Chief, was reappointed by Mayor-elect Orr. She's smart enough to see this chief is special, and someday he will get hired away by a bigger city's department. For now, though, we’ll keep him as long as we can.

2. The CPD had a successful sting on Human Trafficking. As reported by WyomingPublicMedia.org, “An undercover operation that led to the arrests of 15 people during Cheyenne Frontier Days, was a joint effort by the Cheyenne Police Department, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the FBI…”

1. In 2016, CPD decreased DUI crashes by 50 percent Just to re-phase: DUI CRASHES WERE CUT IN HALF!

Kudos to our awesome folks in blue. You could join their team because they're hiring.
