Despite a less than impressive Mountain West Tournament, both the Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls have more basketball to play this season.

The Cowboys open play in the College Basketball Invitational against Eastern Washington University Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium. And, the Cowgirls are back in the WNIT and open Thursday at 6:30 p.m. by hosting Seattle University.

    Getting To Know Eastern Washington

    The Eagles finished the season 22-11 and took second in the Big Sky Conference. They average 79.2 points per game and shoot 48% from the field. EWU is led by Bogdan Bliznyuk who averages just over 20 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. Jacob Wiley also averages just over 20 points per game and collects over 9 rebounds per game. The Pokes are 5-0 against Eastern Washington in the all-time series record.

    Getting To Know Seattle University

    The Redhawks finished their season 15-17 overall, but were 10-4 in the WAC. Seattle is led by Alexis Montgomery who is averaging almost 16 points per game and 8.3 rebounds per game. Kaylee Best averages 13.6 points per game and Wilma Afungo grabs 5.7 rebounds per game. Seattle is coached by Suzy Barcomb, who is in her first season with the team. The Cowgirls defeated Seattle in 2011 during their only meeting, 70-51.

    This is happens to be the 10-year anniversary of the amazing 2007 Cowgirls run for a WNIT championship. The team was just selected for the UW Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame. A decade later, is another WNIT-run in store for the Cowgirls? Let's hope so!
