There has always been the age old argument about local government and how they spend the people's tax dollars. I, for one, don't have a problem with them spending money to help keep roads kept up and other expenditure's that help to keep our city going.

Here are 5 things that the city of Cheyenne spent money on in the last year. Tell me what your thoughts are about it in the comments section below. Where they wise or unwise purchases?

  1. Oak Ridge Boys Christmas Show - It was reported that $39,037.61 was spent on ticket sales less expenses on the folks that brought us great hits like "Elvira."
  2. San Diego Ballet - Ticket income less expenses of $28,666.61 was spent for a bunch of people running around in tights. I know we had to have them come to effectively run the city.
  3. Bike Lane Safety Green Paint - This wouldn't be so bad, I guess, but the city paid out $3067.75 for, not only the paint, but also for a representative to consult and teach folks how to apply it.
  4. Pink Boxing Gloves - The city of Cheyenne spent $85 a piece for 6 starter kits which netted around $510.00 total for Cohort 8. That's a great way to punch in those dollars!
  5. 2 Scandinavian Axes - No, they couldn't have just gone down to the local box store to buy a few axes, but it's "nothing but the best" for Cheyenne! $163.23 was the total amount paid for the axes from Scandinavia. I guess they'll head to one of the fine museums when they get done.
