Have you ever been to a woodchopper's jamboree?

The small community of Encampment, west of Laramie, will host it's 55th annual Woodchoppers Jamboree and Rodeo this weekend on June 20 and 21.

The Woodchoppers Jamboree kicks off Saturday morning at 9 with a parade through Encampment and Riverside, then the Lumberjack competitions begin at 10 a.m., a barbeque lunch will be served both Saturday and Sunday and the rodeo begins at 1:30 p.m. At 7 p.m. both nights, the Grand Encampment Opera House hosts it's free melodrama.

Lumberjacks from all around the region will be competing for the title of Rocky Mountain Champion Lumberjack. Using power saws, axes and hand saws, men and women competitors will cut down 'trees,' chop logs and saw squared wood blocks in half, racing the clock for the fastest time.

This unique event is sponsored by the Encampment-Riverside Lions Club. The cost of admission is $7 for adults and children under 12 get in free. Get a dose of fresh clean mountain air and enjoy the Woodchoppers Jamboree and Rodeo.
