We've had our fair share of weird Wyoming weather this week. In the northwestern corner of the Cowboy State, visitors at Yellowstone National Park are even gearing up for a snowstorm.

Which begs the question, what was the latest snowfall ever recorded here in Cheyenne?

It was just over 70 years ago. According to the National Weather Service, a blizzard rolled through Cheyenne on June 12, 1947. By the time it was over, it dumped 8.7 inches of snow on the Capital City.

Let's all hope that record stands for, at least, another 70 years.
