Lunch Money. It has been spent, given and stolen in many cases. But just how much money are people spending going out to lunch every year?

Recently, Visa released some stats on how much lunch money is going out each year. On average, people stated that they spent about $53 a week on school lunches. That translates to about $2,746 a year.

However, for "eating out" meals, it was reported that people spent about $20 a week, which translated into about $1043 a year.

When it comes to going out to lunch across America, the study found that those of us in Mid-America are the most frugal, as we spend about $866 a year. That is compared to those living in the south, who spend about $1,240 a year and those in the Northeast, who spend about $1,001 a year.
