Two members of the Los Angeles based animal rights group Mercy For Animals held a protest Monday at the state capitol building against the treatment of farm animals.

The protesters inflated a balloon image of a puppy on a bun alongside a picture of a puppy and a piglet. The group's National Campaign Coordinator's, Jeni Haines, says the point of the event was to encourage people to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle to alleviate the suffering of farm animals. Haines says the images were meant to show that farm animals are much like the household pets that many people cherish and would never consider eating.

Haines says the Cheyenne event was one of a number of such protests the group is holding across the country.
