The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration is Saturday, May 14 at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, 2360 E. Pershing Blvd. from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

While the actual Armed Forces Day is celebrated nationally Saturday, May 21, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce will recognize and honor these brave men and women a week early. They say bring the family out the VA Medical Center to enjoy a day of celebration and thanks for those who serve our country and our community.  I’m always down with that.

I look forward to some BBQ but I especially want to see some of the “toys” they’ll bring out, like a Blackhawk UH-60!

The event is free to the public and will include a variety of attractions including a free BBQ lunch, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course, balloon animals, a mini sub display, C-130 cutaway engine and various military vehicles including, but not limited to:

  • A Wyoming Army National Guard Blackhawk UH-60
  • A UH-1N Huey Helicopter from F.E. Warren AFB,
  • Emergency response vehicles such as fire engines
  • Humvees
  • Payload transporter and erector
  • Mobile air traffic control tower

Additionally there will booths from all of the services, many of the veteran service organizations and Cheyenne businesses and demonstrations by teams such as the East High School JROTC.

The event is in partnership with the Cheyenne VA, F.E. Warren Air Force Base, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce MAC, the Wyoming National Guard, and the local Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force recruiters.
