About 300 people were on hand Monday for the annual Memorial Day Wreath Laying ceremony at Beth El Cemetary in Cheyenne.

Keynote speaker, Col. Tammy Maas, Chief of Staff or the Wyoming Army National Guard, said it was important to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our country. She also said it is important to remember and continue to support those who are serving today. In her speech, Col. Maas quoted President John F. Kennedy,

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and success of liberty. -President John F. Kennedy

Volunteers adorned the graves of the fallen with American flags and flowers. The ceremony concluded with a 21 gun salute and the playing of "Taps."
