CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — An anti-pot campaign may launch this month ahead of a possible November vote on a measure legalizing medical marijuana statewide.

Wyoming Association of Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police is looking for letters of support for a campaign they say would educate residents about the potential effects of marijuana.

Executive director Byron Oedekoven says the group expects to see grassroots support for the campaign.

He said it's possible the association's entire membership won't support fighting medical marijuana, but that most, if not all, would be in favor of an educational campaign.

More than 25,600 signatures are needed to put the medical marijuana measure on the November ballot.

Wyoming NORML executive director Chris Christian says circulators will start getting signatures Aug. 14.
