Veterans, family members, employers and active duty military were honored friday during the Armed Forces Day ceremony at the Wyoming Capitol. The event was sponsored by the Military Affairs Committee of the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce as part of Military Appreciation Month which is celebrated every May.

Governor Matt Mead said in Wyoming "thankfully we do such a wonderful job supporting our military. Communities come out time and time again to say thank you."

Brig. Gen. Steven Mount, Assistant Adjutant General for the Wyoming Army National Guard, repeated a quote from Ronald Regan about why people join the military. He said " they make a commitment to the military, make it freely because the birthright we share as Americans is worth defending."

Several more events are scheduled for later this month including a Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee lunch on the 30th and an Armed Forces Celebration at the Depot Plaza on the 31st.
