Laramie County Assessor Brenda Arnold says preliminary figures show overall property valuations assessed by her office are up by about 3 percent this year, although she says that tabulation is not final.

Arnold says local property valuations were mailed out in late March, adding property owners have 30 days to challenge her office's findings. She says the 3 percent calculation includes new property and additions to existing property and does not reflect the outcome of any valuation challenges by property owners.

Arnold says the 3 percent increase would be fairly average for this area, assuming it turns out to be final. She says the tax bills will go out from her office in September, and the payment for the first half of 2013 is due by November 10.
