Cow Camp Fire Update
As of Sunday evening, the Cow Camp Fire is now at 8,492 acres and containment is now at 90 percent. 320 personnel are now on-hand at the incident. Crews have begun to be demobilized and redirected from the fire to others in the area.

Cow Camp Fire Grows To 3500 Acres
Burning in grass, brush and mixed conifer, the Cow Camp Fire in North Albany County continues to grow and is now estimated at over 3,500 acres. It continues to be driven by swirling winds, dry fuels and above average temperatures.
The fire is approximately five miles southeast of Laramie Peak and is currently burning on the Medicine Bow National Forest and private lands. State lands are also in close proximity.

Butler Named New Head of Wyoming Highway Patrol
Lt. Col. John Butler of Cheyenne has been selected to become the next administrator of the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP).
Butler, a 27-year Highway Patrol veteran, is being promoted to the rank of colonel. He officially began his new duties Tuesday, becoming the 12th person to head the Patrol since its formation in 1933. Butler replaces Col. Jess Oyler, who retired at end of 2011 and Butler had served as interim Patrol administrator since then. A formal pinning ceremony to mark’s Butler’s promotion will be scheduled for June.

Fire Destroys Home on Vosler Road
A fire destroyed a house at 5012 Vosler Place in the early Saturday morning May 26th.
The City of Cheyenne Fire & Rescue responded to a call at approximately 3:15 AM from a nearby resident reporting the smell of smoke. When city fire arrived on scene the house, which is located in the county, was fully engulfed in fire.
