The Wyoming Veterans Commission, Governor Matt Mead and Wyoming's adjutant general, Maj. General Luke Reiner hosted Wyoming's remembrance wreath ceremony at the capitol rotunda Monday. The ceremony is part of the "Wreaths Across America" program that honors veterans and their families during the holidays
A 30 year old Utah man was killed in a single vehicle crash on I-80 Monday morning about 1 mile east of Cheyenne. The Wyoming highway patrol says James Castleman of South Ogden, Utah was eastbound and was pulling double van type semi trailers. For reasons unknown, his combination went off the roadway into the median in a slight right hand curve where it then went through a barbed wire fence. The entire tractor trailer combination then overturned in the median and it slid into the westbound lanes of travel coming to rest in and blocking both westbound lanes.
Twenty-eight year old Brian Sears of Cheyenne is facing charges of second degree homicide and attempted second degree homicide in connection with last Thursday's shooting that claimed the life off 22 year old Connor Tarr of Cheyenne. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says whether there will be enough time to get a new farm bill in place for the coming growing season depends on what congress does. Officials with the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) will be on the University of Wyoming campus tomorrow to answer questions on how UW researchers can obtain large time allocations on the NCAR-Wyoming Supercomputing Center. The Humane Society of the U.S. and the Fund for Animals filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Washington DC challenging the decision of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove wolves in Wyoming from the endangered species list. Governor Matt Mead says it is clear Wyoming will take a big hit if Congress and the President fail to reach a deficit reduction agreement. Doug Randall reports. The Cheyenne Animal Shelter is looking for families to foster a homeless cat or dog for the holidays so the shelter staff may spend more time with the few shelter animals that do have to spend the holiday in the building. The shelter is asking anyone interested in fostering for the holidays to please contact our foster coordinator for more information.
This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. As part of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of March Madness, the NCAA and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) have commissioned paintings by renowned sports artist Opie Otterstad of each of the head coaches who have won an NCAA Men’s Basketball title.
College Sports Madness released its 2012 All-Mountain West Conference Football Teams on Thursday and seven Wyoming Cowboys were honored. Three Cowboy seniors earned First Team All-Conference recognition from College Sports Madness. Senior center Nick Carlson, senior wide receiver Chris McNeill and senior defensive tackle Mike Purcell were each named to the First Team.
