This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship. As part of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of March Madness, the NCAA and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) have commissioned paintings by renowned sports artist Opie Otterstad of each of the head coaches who have won an NCAA Men’s Basketball title.
College Sports Madness released its 2012 All-Mountain West Conference Football Teams on Thursday and seven Wyoming Cowboys were honored. Three Cowboy seniors earned First Team All-Conference recognition from College Sports Madness. Senior center Nick Carlson, senior wide receiver Chris McNeill and senior defensive tackle Mike Purcell were each named to the First Team.

Cheyenne Frontier Days received the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year Award for the fourteenth time at an award banquet held last night in Las Vegas. University of Wyoming senior free safety Luke Ruff was named Thursday to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Football First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). It is the first time in Ruff’s career that he has earned First Team Academic All-America honors. He is the first Wyoming Cowboy to earn the honor since Trenton Franz in 2004.
A native of Castle Rock, Colo., Ruff has achieved a 3.60 cumulative grade-point average in civil engineering. In November, Ruff was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 First Team for the third consecutive year. By earning First Team Academic All-District honors, Ruff became eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
