Just a few days after Bob Seger unveiled the first song from his upcoming album, the legendary rocker has announced the release date for the record. ‘Ride Out,’ Seger’s first album of of all-new material since 2006′s ‘Face the Promise,’ will come out on Oct. 14.

Billboard reports that the album may also be Seger’s final studio record. ‘Face the Promise,’ which went platinum, took 11 years to follow its predecessor, 1995′s ‘It’s a Mystery.’

Late last week, Seger released a new single, ‘Detroit Made,’ a song originally written and recorded by singer-songwriter John Hiatt. Kid Rock was supposed to join him on the cut, but Seger ended up making the song with some Silver Bullet alum instead.

‘Ride Out,’ which was produced by Seger, was recorded in Nashville and Detroit. ”I feel really good about this record,” Seger said in a statement. “This album touches on how I think a lot of us feel about finding our place in a more complicated world — from how we appreciate things as simple and pure as love, to navigating through the corruption and violence that permeates the news. It sums up a lot of feelings I have about a variety of subjects.”

While a full track listing for the album hasn’t surfaced yet, other songs that are likely to show up include the original track ‘All of the Roads’ and a cover of Wilco and Billy Bragg’s ‘California Stars,’ which includes lyrics by folk great Woody Guthrie. Both of those songs, as well as ‘Detroit Made,’ were performed by Seger on his 2013 tour.

Seger told Billboard last year that this may be his final album. ”I don’t know how much more there is to prove,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind putting out one more record, one last swan song. … I don’t want to overstay my welcome.”
