No one was hurt Saturday when a teen driver hit a charter bus carrying University of Wyoming students, thanks in large part to the actions of the bus driver.

Four charter buses were westbound on I-80 at about noon Saturday, carrying members of the UW marching band to the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego, Calif., when 18-year-old Elias Tesoro of Evanston tried to pass the buses in a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Tesoro lost control on the ice and began to fishtail before crashing into one of the buses, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The bus went into the north ditch before the driver, 61-year-old Brenda Taylor of Aurora, Colo., regained control and steered back onto the shoulder of the highway, where she brough the bus to a controlled stop.

The investigating trooper credits Taylor's actions for the lack of injuries.

Tesoro was cited for driving too fast for conditions.
