Management Team Takes Over Russell’s Camp Fire

A Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team B took over management of the Russell’s Camp Fire Tuesday.  The incident continues to utilize local resources, which includes multiple crews, numerous engines and two Helitac modules. Additional resources arrived throughout the day.

No structures have been destroyed or damaged, however 20 primary and 20 outbuildings are threatened. Voluntary evacuations were recommended Monday on the Cold Springs Road by the Converse County Sheriff’s Department. Fire traffic has increased on Cold Springs Road and the public is reminded that barricades in place for the road closure should be respected. Aircraft on the incident include 3 heavy helicopters (on order), a medium and two light helicopters. Two fixed wing, air tactical aircraft are also on the incident, and the Single Engine Air Tanker (SEAT) base will be in operation in the coming days.

This afternoon hot, dry winds did increase fire activity within and around the fire perimeter.  Crews are working on all areas of the fire.
