Imagine how much this would cost us in Wyoming if they would implement this!

California is looking at implementing a fee for driving distance to replace their gas tax. They would phase out the gas tax and call it a fee. It would be based on how far you commute. Those who have a long commute to work - or those whose job requires a lot of daily car travel will pay more than the average driver. California has the highest gas taxes, second highest gas prices, increased registration fees and they're the 47th out of 50 for worst roads in the nation. The idea is to replace the gas tax and call it a fee, which can be raised without a vote.

If Wyoming did something like this, imagine the long commutes for people to Northern Colorado, Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie and Western Nebraska.
