Friday night, Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne East renew their rivalry on the football field for the 68th time. Although East has won 7 of the last 8 games in the series, Central has historically dominated the Capital City Bowl.

Dating back to their first meeting in 1960, Central leads the all-time series 43 to 24. The once-proud Indians program has fallen on hard times recently. Over the years, Central has won 12 state titles, most recently in 2005.

Meanwhile, East has captured four state championships, including a title run in 2013. Coming off a 36-10 win last fall, East will be the favorites again this year.

The #3 ranked Thunderbirds are 5-1 this season, with their only loss coming on the road against #2 Natrona. Despite a 1-5 record, Central has been more competitive in recent weeks.

If history teaches us anything, you can throw out the records when these two teams meet.
