The Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) General Committee has named Mitch Carter to head the CFD Rodeo Committee.

A Wyoming native, Carter is a co-owner of Carter Brothers Construction. He is a past President of the South East Wyoming Home Builders Association, and a past State President of the Wyoming Home Builders Association. In 2007, Carter Brothers Construction was chosen for a leadership role in the ABC television program, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Cheyenne.”

Carter has volunteered with the Rodeo Committee since 2001 and was elected to the HEELS organization in 2009. His current volunteer work is focused on the production of the CFD rodeo performances.

“We look forward to working with Mitch and his committee to make the 2016 rodeo the best one yet,” said Bill Berg, CFD General Chairman. “We know he is the right man for this big job.”

The Rodeo Committee Chairman is responsible for all aspects of CFD’s nine rodeo performances, all slack events, and the Cinch Rodeo Shootout. The committee’s activities include working with stock contractors, announcers, bullfighters, clowns, and specialty acts, and finally bringing the show to the viewing public. The Rodeo Committee Chairman works year-round with the governing bodies of professional rodeo, the PRCA and WPRA. He also coordinates with CFD’s 1,800 rodeo contestants, keeps the official results, calculates payoffs, and issues winnings to contestants.

During CFD, the Rodeo Committee manages the Cowboy Hospitality area, coordinates the annual cattle drive that officially kicks off CFD, oversees the Night of Champions Award ceremony, and works with CFD veterinarians to ensure that all livestock receive proper care and responsible treatment.
