Grateful Memories of Apollo 11 Moon Landing on July 20, 1969

Where were you on the evening of July 20, 1969?

If you were around that night, chances are you were watching Neil Armstrong take the first steps on the moon.

Last night I was eating a roast beef sandwich and to me, Arby's and Apollo 11 always go together. The Summer of 1969 we were taking a family vacation to Mesa Verde in southwestern Colorado. We were driving back home through Denver and stopped for dinner. Inside the restaurant they had a small TV everyone was watching, showing coverage of the historic moon landing.

Final Space Shuttle Launched From Cape Canaveral

The final space shuttle lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida this morning despite the heavy cloud cover and threat of rain.

Atlantis blasted off just after eleven a.m. (mountain time) carrying a crew of four. This is the smallest shuttle crew since 1983, the size was limited because a smaller Russian Soyuz rocket would need to be used for a rescue vehicle.

The crew consists of commander Chris Ferguson, pilot Doug Hurley and mission specialists Rex Walheim and Sandy Magnus.

Shuttle Endeavour Lifts Off For The Last Time [VIDEO]

The space shuttle Endeavour was launched (Great photo from an airplane off MSN.com) on it's mission to the International Space Station at 6:56 MT this morning. Follow STS-134 at NASA.gov. The final mission for Endeavour was delayed two weeks due to an electronics glitch.

When it reaches the ISS on Wednesday, the shuttle will deliver nearly 15 tons of supplies and equipment, highlighted by the 7.5-ton Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, which will be attached to the space station's exterior during a robotic arm operation. Once it's installed, the $2 billion particle detector will almost immediately start sending down data about cosmic rays according to msnbc.
