CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Cheyenne Regional Airport could lose $850,000 in federal funding after it failed to meet passenger targets in 2014.

Fewer than 10,000 passengers flew out of the facility aboard commercial aircraft, which is below the federal minimum for compensation from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The airport is hoping to get an exemption from the FAA.

According to the Wyoming Tribune Eagle (http://tinyurl.com/qfg2qqn http://tinyurl.com/qfg2qqn ), officials blame a nationwide pilot shortage for low number of passengers at the Cheyenne airport.
