It started last year with Target and this week with a national hospital organization. Hackers are getting confidential information from customers and patients.

It seems like almost weekly, we hear another major company or retail chain is being compromised. Hackers are gaining entrance to confidential credit information. Albertson's says their latest intrusion happened in late June to early July. They are offering a free consumer identity protection service for 12 months for affected customers. Here are some friendly tips on what to do if you feel your information has been computerized.

  1. Have your bank help you verify whether fraud has occurred
  2. Remove fraudulent charges
  3. Close your account to prevent any further fraudulent transactions
  4. Issue you a new account number and new card, and transfer your old information to the new account
