A fire at a four-plex apartment on Pattison Avenue in Cheyenne late Thursday caused some damage but no injuries

According to a new release from Cheyenne Fire & Rescue, firefighters were called to a four-plex apartment in the 2500 block of Pattison Avenue around 10:28 p.m. They arrived about six minutes later, finding smoke in the second floor of  the four-plex in a bathroom that was being renovated.

Residents of the other three apartments were able to escape the building without injury, but there was an estimated $5,000 in damage to the bathroom area, mostly caused by smoke. The fire was under control by 10:39 p.m.

There were no working smoke alarms in the unit. Cheyenne Fire & Rescue is reminding people that smoke alarms save lives and should be in working order in all homes.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
