How are you celebrating Earth Day this year?

The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Children's Village will celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 18, with free activities including a chance to meet Smokey Bear.

Earth Day will be celebrated at the Paul Smith Children's Village in Lions Park on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free events include story time, craft time and birthday cake beginning at 11 a.m. and throughout the day children can race sticks, make seed necklaces, rock sculptures and pin wheels and participate in other activities. Kids will also have a chance to meet Smokey Bear.

This year marks the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, so the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens asks if you have any old 45 rpm records. You can donate your used vinyl for a unique craft project that starts at 10 a.m. (Just be sure to keep all of your valuable collectables)

There's even going to be a lemonade stand and party hats. If Mother Nature decides Saturday's not a good day to be out, an alternative date is planned for next Saturday, April 25. The Paul Smith Children's Village will close early at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 17, for staff and volunteers to set up the Earth Day celebration.
