A 26-year-old Cheyenne man accused of stealing a $40,000 truck is facing five to 44 years in prison after the victim and police used OnStar to track him down.

Tevin Taylor was arrested on a felony warrant on March 11, after authorities found him sleeping in a stolen pickup near Garfield Court and the 700 block of East Prosser Road.

Police say Taylor had the truck keys and a .40 caliber magazine in his possession and was sitting next to a Springfield XD .40 caliber pistol that belonged to the truck owner. When he refused to get out of the pickup, he was arm barred to the ground.

Officers searched Taylor and found 11.9 grams of tar heroin and .7 grams of methamphetamine in his wallet. After he was handcuffed, Taylor reportedly ran from authorities and was again taken to the ground.

Taylor has been charged with aggravated burglary, felony theft, felony possession of heroin, misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and interference with a peace officer.

Taylor is currently being held in the Laramie County Jail on $10,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
