The Cheyenne City Council will hold a noon work session on Friday to discuss the Christensen Road overpass project.

The council on Monday night decided to postpone voting on a professional services agreement with Collins Engineers, Inc., for constructability review services until their next meeting.

"I think there are a whole lot more questions than there are answers at this point," said Councilman Rocky Case, who moved to postpone the item until Nov. 27.

"I think it would be more appropriate to have a discussion and a work session," Case added.

The sixth penny project, which was approved by Laramie County voters on May 2, calls for the collection of $15 million to construct Christensen Road between Commerce Circle and U.S. Highway 30, including a new bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad.

"It's not going to increase your response time for your first responders to get out there," argued Donn Edmunds, who lives at 5309 E. Pershing Boulevard. "A two-lane road is not going to relieve any congestion going out there."

"This project was supposed to be a four-lane road running from I-80 along Christensen to Four Mile Road (and) another four-lane road from Four Mile and Christensen to I-25," added Edmunds, who proposed "Pershing be made into an overpass over Christensen with no interchanges" to keep it from becoming a truck route.

"I would invite any stakeholders and landowners that have any concerns about this project (to attend the work session)," said Case. "I believe most of the council is committed to get lists of questions together for the stakeholders prior to this meeting so that it can be as effective and efficient as possible."
