Cheyenne firefighters had their busiest year ever in 2015, according to firefighters union spokesman Derek Pollnow.

He says the city's five fire stations responded to 9,100 calls for service last year. That's an increase of almost 1000 compared to the number of calls in 2014 and continues a decade-long trend of increasing calls for service.

Pollnow says he expects the same trend to continue in 2016, mostly because the city is growing.

Besides the increased workload on the job, Pollnow says the local firefighters union--the International Association of Firefighters [IAFF] Local 279--raised more money than ever before for local charities.

He says that while the exact number the firefighters raised in various charity efforts hasn't been determined yet, it looks like the final tally will come in a tover $65,000
