The American Red Cross and Cheyenne Fire&Rescue installed 209 smoke alarms in 55 homes on Saturday, July 16.

About a quarter of the alarms were installed by the fire department inside the city limits of Cheyenne, with the others installed in Laramie County homes by the Red Cross.

The fire department offers the alarms to low-income families within the city limits of Cheyenne. Anyone who lives in the city and is interested in the program should call Cheyenne Fire&Rescue at (307) 637-6311.

The Red Cross and the fire department also have a program to help a broader range of families. Anyone interested in that program should call James Ledwith at (307) 763-2230.
