Cheyenne Frontier Days 2016 General Chair Bill Berg says he wants to dispel rumors that the Air Force Thunderbirds won't be performing at Cheyenne Frontier Days this year because of a recent crash in Colorado.

A Thunderbird pilot was forced to ditch his plane on June 2 in Colorado Springs. Major Alex Turner was flying over the crowd at the Air Force Academy after President Obama gave a commencement speech, according to the Denver Post.

While Turner wasn't seriously injured, the elite demonstration team was grounded for two weeks.

But the pilots have since resumed their performances, and Berg says the team plans to perform in Cheyenne on July 27 as scheduled.

That performance is slated for 9:30 a.m., but people planning to go to the Laramie County Community College Campus to see the show are being advised to get there early because access roads will close at 9 a.m., according to the CFD website.
