The Cheyenne Frontier Days had its unofficial 2017 kickoff Sunday morning with its traditional cattle drive.

Traditional style cowboys on horses began driving cattle early Sunday morning. The herd consisted of about 550 Corriente steers that walked along the I-25 frontage road.

The steers moved across the horizon kicking up a trail of dust behind them as spectators spanned along the path. The steer were headed toward Frontier Park. Several will be animal athletes in rodeo events during Cheyenne Frontier Days.
