For 10 days every summer, over half a million people come to Cheyenne Frontier Days. During this year’s 120th Daddy of ‘Em All, parking problems have been improved significantly with the addition of The Cowboy Triangle transportation service. This is a great way to save hassles and time while staying mobile.

In previous years, parking in the surrounding neighborhood created problems for people wanting to park and residents just trying to get through the annual influx.

Residents I talked to were pretty cool but did mention the bad behavior of CFD attendees in the past, blocking their driveways, parking in their yard without permission and even parking in their driveway. But there was more bad behavior in the past with people thinking they would continue the party after the park closed and they would hang out at their cars in the wee hours of the night. One neighbor was thoughtful enough to provide a trash can for empties and trash but got their can stolen. No good deed goes unpunished. One household found a girl drinking a beer on their doorstep late one night.

Many of the neighbors choose to go on vacation at this time of year, while others seek to capitalize by parking cars on their property. That can get very competitive and occasionally end up in fist fights. Things have chilled somewhat with a more gentile approach and equally dividing up the cars, “I’ll take this one, you get the next.”

Vacationing sounds like a good idea, but I would be concerned about my home being empty during the event. That’s where neighbors watching out for one another comes in very handy.

A little respect goes a long way, and one couple mentioned that they have let people park in their driveway if they were polite.

Conclusion: The Cowboy Triangle.
