Cheyenne East High School stayed unbeaten and Cheyenne Central broke into the win column in Class 4A High School football action on Friday night.

The Thunderbirds (4-0) avenged a 2016 31-28 loss to Cheyenne South with a 47-0 victory in a lightning-shortened game at South High School.

The start of the game was delayed because of safety concerns about lightning, and with East holding a huge lead at halftime officials decided the safety risk posed by lightning outweighed the benefits of trying to continue.

The Thunderbird came into the game ranked #3 in class 4A and did nothing to hurt that standing with an all-around dominating performance against the Bison (0-4). The smothering Thunderbird defense held the Bison to 82 yards and only three first downs during the two quarters of action.

East has a big game coming up on Friday when they travel to second-ranked Casper Natrona (4-0). Cheyenne South (0-4) will try to break into the win column at home against the Rock Springs Tigers (2-2).

In other local 4A action on Friday night, Cheyenne Central (1-3) broke into the win column in a big way with a 66-13 shellacking of winless Campbell County.  Adarius Gallon had a monster night running the football with 20 carries for an incredible 265 yards.

Central will try to notch it's second win of the season next week against the Laramie Plainsmen (1-3).
