Officials with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center say they are now hoping to formally open the hospital's new emergency room in December.

The new $25 million center had originally be scheduled to open on October 28. But hospital officials say that while conducting drills and testing they discovered a problem with the internal communications system that could pose a security risk. Tracy Garcia, Director of Trauma and Emergency Services, says the company that installed the system is working on-site this week to repair the problems.

Garcia says  the hospital will re-test the system towards the end of this week. She says if the problems are corrected the hospital will announce a new opening date. She adds the hospital hopes to begin operating the new facility sometime next month, assuming there are no more problems.
