Cheyenne area law enforcement officers are teaming up with elementary schools in Laramie County to make Christmas a little brighter for those less fortunate.

On December 21, one student from each school will get to "Shop with a Cop" at the Walmart on Livingston Avenue.

"Officers will pick up the students from school and they get to go out and pick out a $100 worth of merchandise," said Officer Kevin Malatesta with the Cheyenne Police Department.

"The officer's spouses will also be making a dinner to send home with the students at the end of the day," Malatesta added.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol Association (WHPA) is raising funds to expand the number of students they're able to reach. Anyone wishing to donate to the program can do so by going to the WHPA PayPal site.
