Cheyenne Knights of the Turntable Meeting Thursday, September 3, at Phoenix Books & Music
How big is your album collection?
If you are a vinyl record collector, the Knights of the Turntable would like to invite you to join them for their next monthly meeting at Phoenix Books & Music in downtown Cheyenne on Thursday, September 3.
The Cheyenne Knights of the Turntable meet on the first Thursday of each month at Phoenix Books & Music, 1612 Capitol Avenue. Vinyl enthusiasts are encouraged to share some of their discoveries at the meetings scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The themes for the September get together include:
- Early record label releases (albums with low catalog numbers)
- Songs that mess around with the speeds; 33, 45 and 78
- Tunes that include backward masking
The person who gives the Best Presentation wins either a Phoenix Books & Music t-shirt or a filled Rewards Card.
The owner of Phoenix Books & Music, Don McKee, says listening to music in a group is a lost art and is the 'opposite of wearing ear buds.' Audiophiles can discuss some of the finer points of the recordings or artists and tell a little history surrounding songs.
While each selection is being played, those in attendance can pass around the album jacket and sleeve to gather more information about the records. It's a nice exchange of knowledge between those who have a mutual appreciation of the old way of making music.
