Cheyenne Light Files for Electric and Gas Rate Increases

Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power filed rate requests Monday with the Wyoming Public Service Commission to raise both electric and natural gas rates.

Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power spokeswoman Jane Montoya says the company’s recent investments in Cheyenne’s future are described in the respective electric and natural gas rate requests.

Montoya says the estimated daily increase for the typical Cheyenne Light residential customer using 640 kilowatt hours of electricity a month would be less than $0.40 (per day) for electricity, and less than $0.10 (per day) for the typical residential customer who uses 6.3 dekatherms of natural gas a month.The increase for commercial and industrial customers will vary, based on rate class, load factors and total usage. The company seeks to implement new gas and electric rates on Cctober 1, 2014, when the new natural-gas-fired plant is scheduled to be placed into service.
