The case against a Cheyenne man accused of fatally stabbing a man in the heart and attempting to kill another man has been sent to Laramie County District Court.

Sitting in a wheelchair, 20-year-old Vincent Ramirez appeared before Circuit Court Judge Denise Nau this (Friday) afternoon.

Ramirez is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Ian Dangler and the attempted second-degree murder of 20-year-old Camilo Olivas. Both counts carry a sentence of 20 years to life in prison.

Ramirez is accused of stabbing Dangler and Olivas with a three to four-inch pocket knife after getting into a fist fight with them over his ex-girlfriend, Destany Gonzales.

Cheyenne Police Department Detective John Pederson said that the knife was found "closed and covered in blood" next to Dangler, but he didn't know who the knife belonged to or who closed it.

Pederson also said that Ramirez suffered "a small stab wound in his thigh" during the fight, but the cut appeared to have been caused by a smaller knife than the one recovered at the scene.

"There's a lot of questions," said Judge Nau, who found probable cause to bind the case over. "I think (those questions) would be better addressed in District Court."

Judge Nau left Ramirez's bond at $500,000 cash and ordered him not to have any contact with Olivas or Gonzales if he bonds out of jail.
