A 28-year-old Cheyenne man has been formally charged for allegedly using a sword to threaten his brother during a dispute over the use of a cell phone.

Brandon Bruckner is facing felony charges of possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent as well as misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and destruction of property.

Lt. Don Hollingshead of the Laramie County Sheriff's Department says deputies were called to 6016 Laramie St. around 11 p.m. on Monday on a report of two brothers having gotten into a fight over a cell phone.

Hollingshead said Jordan Bruckner told deputies his brother, Brandon Bruckner, had threatened him with a large sword because Jordan wouldn't let him use his cell phone. Jordan Bruckner told deputies Brandon was high on meth and said because of that he locked him out.

He said Brandon went to his car, got a large sword and put it through a side window of the door. Bruckner was arrested by the Cheyenne Police Department in the parking lot of the Walmart store on Dell Range.

Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on Wednesday set Bruckner's bond at $3000. The judge set a July 20 preliminary hearing in the case.
