A 54-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony assault charge after police say he pointed a gun at his wife's face.

According to an affidavit, police were called to the Pinewood Village Apartments around noon on May 12 after Paul Taylor allegedly assaulted his wife.

Police say Taylor's wife told them her husband was drunk and extremely angry with her when she got home around midnight.

She told police that Taylor got on top of her while she was in bed and told her they were married so he had the right to have sex with her. She told him no and eventually got away from him.

Later that morning, Taylor's wife told her husband that she was going to the office to see if she could get him out of the apartment.

When police escorted Taylor's wife back to the apartment that afternoon so she could gather some personal belongings before going to Safehouse, they say she opened the door and screamed, "He has a gun."

Taylor was ordered to drop the gun, which he eventually did, and was arrested for aggravated assault with a weapon.

Taylor is being held in the Laramie County Jail on $10,000 cash bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 24.
