Cheyenne Mayor Appoints Chief of Staff

Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr has appointed Eric Fountain to serve as her Chief of Staff.

The mayor says Fountain will work with city department heads to improve communication and coordination. Orr says the move is part of her effort to restructure city government.

Fountain ran unsuccessfully for the Cheyenne City Council in Ward 1 last year. He has worked for the last decade as business manager for the Cheyenne Law firm of Parsons and Associates. While Fountain is slated for a starting salary of $71,000 a year, Orr says the hiring won't affect the overall budget because the cost of hiring him will be offset by the elimination of some city department head positions.

Former Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen did not employ a chief of staff, but other Cheyenne mayors in the past have done so.
