Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says he hasn't decided whether he will run for a third term.

Kaysen said Tuesday he has been getting a lot of questions about a possible re-election run and has been discussing the issue with his family.

The mayor said "I love what I am doing. I love working for the people of Cheyenne. I love working for them. They are my bosses."

But he also said he is undecided at this point, adding ''it is a decision I take very seriously."

The mayor was first elected in 2008, defeating former state legislator Jayne Mockler by a comfortable margin. He easily won re-election in 2012, defeating city employee John Palmer. Prior to running for mayor he was with Cheyenne Light Fuel and Power [now Black Hills Energy] serving as the company's President and CEO for many years.

Cheyenne voters in November rejected a proposal to have an appointed city administrator take over many of the day-to-day duties performed by the mayor by a margin of almost 2-1.
